Meredith Names New Business School Dean

Provost Matthew Poslusny announced on April 29 that Kimberly 鈥淜im鈥 Gladden Burke, Ph.D., will be the new dean of the 91短视频 School of Business, effective July 1, 2021.聽

Kimberly Gladden BurkeBurke comes to Meredith from Millsaps College, where she has served as dean of the Else School of Management since 2012. Burke also held roles as assistant dean, acting dean, and professor of accounting at Millsaps.

鈥淏urke鈥檚 previous experience leading an AACSB-accredited school of management, combined with her ability to inspire curricular innovations and passion for teaching in a liberal arts environment, make her the ideal candidate for Meredith,鈥 Poslusny said. 鈥淗er commitment to diversity and inclusion in faculty, student, and business advisory board member recruitment and retention is also an essential part of why she was selected.鈥

As dean at Millsaps, Burke is responsible for overseeing the education of a significant percentage of the college鈥檚 graduates. She led several curricular innovations, including creating Millsaps鈥 first online course offerings and developing and launching a graduate certificate in data analytics, Millsaps鈥 first fully online program.

Her many accomplishments at Millsaps include establishing the College鈥檚 Executive Education program, which offers customized training and open enrollment programs offered throughout Mississippi. Burke also oversaw the development of and grant application for a new program in the workforce coaching and professional development for hourly or low-salaried individuals.

Burke said Meredith鈥檚 mission and the College鈥檚 location in Raleigh are what attracted her to the position.

鈥淭he mission of the College resonates with my passions and the needs of the business school match my skill set,鈥 she said. 鈥淲ith everything going on in and around Raleigh, the opportunity to forge more connections between the business school and the community is truly exciting.聽 I could not ask for more.鈥

Burke holds a Ph.D. in accounting from Oklahoma State University and an M.S. and B.B.A. in accounting from Texas Tech University.
